5 Fuel Saving Tips for Manual Cars

5 Easy ways to save YOU money!

I thought that in view of the so called "Credit Crunch" (i.e. any way of extracting more money from the taxpayer now that the “global warming” concept seems to be ignored!) I could help by publishing a few tips on how to save fuel in your car; starting now. So here we go then 5 Fuel Saving Tips For Manual Cars and much of it applies to automatics as well.

It seems that governments are hell bent on persecuting the motorist, instead of spending the money they take in duties and taxes, on roads they spend it on.... er....um........oh......, well I don't know really, what DO they spend it on? If it were to be spent on building and improving roads there would be less pollution and traffic would run more smoothly, with less accidents and frayed tempers (the cause of a lot of accidents maybe?). So why aren't they doing it?

Because it would be seen to be compounding the pollution problem by cars as they would be favoured apparently. But let's not forget there are lorries as well out there delivering all our needs, they would be more efficient if their run was less congested, wouldn't they? That means that the costs of delivery would fall and that would mean (to my logic anyway) cheaper prices and stabilisation of inflation, but then I could be wrong!

Ah.. just thought... buses and coaches also use the roads don't they? What if they could get to their destinations more quickly, that would mean less fuel used, more people would use public transport because it was more efficient and there would be less cars on the roads. It could also mean that they would use less fuel and therefore their costs would reduce and the fares would be cheaper and more people would use them and less cars on the road would make for a better environment wouldn't it! But no, "tax 'em until they bleed" seems to be the mantra of all governments.

I'm not suggesting for one minute we build race tracks, but good roads that are capable of taking a high traffic flow without causing congestion. It is obvious those vehicles of all sorts do cause pollution and that it should be our aim to reduce it. We don't really know what impact pollution has on our health long-term, so for selfish reasons as I want to live a long time as most people will, it makes sense to cut pollution on health grounds rather than an overarching "global warming" ethic, which does not directly impact on the human race (each person). Pollution also affects all our animals and flora and fauna, so a sensible approach to our driving could mean we save something everyday.

  • Drive more efficiently save a Tiger
  • Drive more efficiently save a Human-Being!
  • Drive more efficiently save a Red Admiral Butterfly
  • Drive more efficiently save a Duck

This sort of mindset would dramatically improve the way people think about saving fuel when motoring. It directly affects them and you can do a little bit to help and hel yourself to more cash. Anway, here are a few quick tips to save gas you can have now!

  1. Ease off the gas pedal! Obvious but its not done nearly enough! There is no need to be the slowest on the road but just ease back a just a little with your right foot and and you will find your car keeps the same speed but uses less fuel (win (Win!) This is my best tip because it works! Also it provides a challnege each time you drive to do better milage and it has some success you can  save money and beat your previous target.
  2. Use downhill stretches if safe to do so as a means of rolling downhill, ease right off the gas and let it go. Your car will still make decent progress. Some countries don’t allow freewheeling (out of gear) so I don’t advocate that method, but that’s up to you. Just make sure you are doing whatever you do safely!
  3. Get into a high a gear as possible as soon as possible. Not too high that you are pressing the throttle to the floor.
  4. Don’t keep “hunting” on the throttle. Means pressing down and releasing giving a jerky ride but many drivers do this, why?
  5. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE from the car in front, this means you don’t have to keep braking, therefore wasting fuel and you will have amore relaxed drive as well and be safer!

Not too many things to remember, but you will get a fuel saving if you practise any one of these methods! Maybe there are gadgets you can use to get a better consumption. Which Fuel Saving Devices REALLY work.
